Total rice exports from India during April-November, the first 8 months of the current fiscal crossed 100 lakh ton marks thanks to increased shipments of non-basmati rice due to competitive prices, data from APEDA shows.
During the period under review India exported total 100.72 lakh ton rice (comprising 70.25 lakh ton of non-basmati and 20.47 lakh ton of basmati rice) as against 50.77 lakh ton (comprising 31.57 lakh ton of non-basmati and 23.63 lakh ton of basmati rice).
Prices of Indian rice are competitive in the global market, said traders.
In global markets,
Thailand's 5% broken rice was traded at $516-520 per ton and
Vietnam's 5% broken was quoted at $500 per while Indian rice 5%
broken was quoted at $381-387 per ton, said traders.
Prices of Thailand and Vietnam rice are higher due to shortage there.
